Dne 29.7. byl umístěn zkušební model pitného stojanu a vystaven účinkům minerální vody. Model má ověřit rychlost a techniku pokameňování. Tvar, velikost, rychlost růstu a zbarvení určují přírodní procesy. Odhadovaný nárůst vrstvy usazenin je několik milimetrů, až jeden centimetr za měsíc. Bude-li vše fungovat dle předpokladů, můžeme se na finální umístění Krasavce před vchodem do Vřídelní kolonády z Divadelního náměstí těšit již v příštím roce. Obyvatelé i návštěvníci Karlových Varů se tak stanou pozorovateli vzniku sochařského díla, jehož autorem jsou místně specifické přírodní procesy. Realizace finální podoby pítka je pomyslně přenechána přírodě. Bude se neustále proměňovat, růst i měnit tvar tím, jak na něj bude vřídelní voda působit. Krasavec Oldřicha Moryse bude tedy nejen funkčním pitným stojanem, ale i soudobým uměleckým dílem, které bude díky své proměnlivosti lákat k opakované návštěvě.
Objekt bude složen z vertikálního sloupu a horizontálního ramene, jehož konec je osazen leštěným vřídlovcem. Projekt vymezuje nerezové plochy, které podléhají běžné údržbě a čištění a plochy
určené růstu Krasavce. V řádu vyšších let bude dosažena meze růstu. Minerální voda vyvěrá na povrch po 25000 letech, kdy dopadla na zem jako dešťová. Krystalizující minerály, kterými se věky sytila, se stávají výživou Krasavce. Z geologického hlediska extrémně rychlý růst vřídlovce je z lidské perspektivy pomalým přírodním divadlem rozloženým do horizontu několika let, ale i přesto je nárůst velice jasně patrný každý týden.
Placement of the Krasavec Test Model

On 29th July, the test model of the drinking stand has been exposed to the effects of mineral water. The model is designed to verify the rate and technique of encrustation. The shape, size, growth rate, and coloration are determined by natural processes. The estimated increase in the deposit layer is a few millimeters to up to one centimeter per month. If everything works as expected, we can look forward to the final placement of the Krasavec in front of the entrance to the Vřídelní Colonnade from Divadelní Square as early as next year. Residents and visitors of Karlovy Vary will thus become witnesses to the creation of a sculptural work whose authors are the site-specific natural processes themselves. The realization of the final form of the drinking fountain is symbolically left to nature. It will constantly transform, grow, and change shape as the thermal water acts upon it. Oldřich Morys’s Krasavec will therefore be not only a functional drinking fountain but also a contemporary work of art, whose variability will entice visitors to return repeatedly.
The proposed structure consists of a vertical column and a horizontal arm, the end of which is fitted with polished sinter stone. The project defines stainless steel surfaces subject to standard maintenance and cleaning, as well as surfaces intended for Krasavec’s growth. Over several years, the growth will reach its limit. The mineral water surfaces after 25,000 years, having fallen to the earth as rain. The crystallizing minerals it has absorbed over millennia nourish Krasavec. From a geological perspective, the extremely rapid growth of sinter stone is, from a human viewpoint, a slow natural spectacle spanning several years. Nevertheless, the growth is visibly noticeable every week.
